The history of this resistant, customary country of counter-power and communist resistance is inscribed in this environment. Both harsh and soothing, already Baronnies, still Hautes Alpes and still Vercors, Diois is full of history and character.

In the heart of Diois, the small village of Romeyer, 300 inhabitants, is located 5 km from Die. Address still preserved in the Val de Drôme and the Middle Alps, Romeyer and its hamlet Le Moulin, enjoy an exceptional landscape facing the Glandasse massif (2041m). In all seasons, Diois offers a new landscape and multiple activities adapted to all ages.

Handicrafts and organic production

At the time of industrial agriculture, this neo-rural region keeps ecology in focus. The lavandière activity of the beginning of summer is one of the peculiarities of this country of aromatic plants and distillation. A bio-valley project is underway and the products offered are grown with respect for nature. Markets, small producers, reasonable breeders, all are open to meet.

Local address, the gastronomy of Diois highlights all these local specialties: picodons, ravioles, lamb, Clairette de Die, honey. Another way to taste the region… by the taste buds too!

 

Activities in Diois from the cottages and chalets

Diois has a unique mineral universe. In this region of underground lakes, reserves (the Vercors has 17,000 ha of biodiversity) and steep paths still live marmots, ibex, wolves and vultures. The hike is fabulous. Near the cottages Fialoux, several hiking trails are available to walkers (GR95 and GR91). Walks for the Glandasse massif and excursions of all levels are within reach of backpack. Amateur walkers will join in 2 hours the Abbey of Valcroissant, a Cistercian building of the 12th century. The sources of Rays are only 1h30 away. And the more seasoned, can also try for the day the balcony of Glandasse.

A few meters from the cottages, the Rays still shelters a trout reserve. Fishing then completes nice picnics. In autumn, the hunt for wild boar, deer and deer begins. In winter, snow activities abound, with opportunities for snowshoeing and skiing. While on sunny days until the late season, the region lends itself to all outdoor sports: cycling, mountain biking, canyoning, climbing, paragliding or glider…

The children keep here the memory of beautiful holidays. Many walks are easy to access and suitable for small legs. In winter, snowmen activity in front of the chalets or ski day at the nearby resorts of Valdrôme or Col de Rousset. In summer, after tree climbing or cycling, the pool of the cottage is only a few meters.
